Though Allison Cone and Kashy Harrison met at an orientation for work, it wasn’t until nearly one year later that they started dating. “I saw Allison from across the room and was floored by how beautiful she looked,” notes Kashy, who convinced Allison to join him for lunch with a few colleagues. “We spent the next several months getting to know each other,” he adds of their working relationship. Soon they fell in love, and the rest is history.

As the couple traveled to many countries together throughout their courtship, it was only fitting that the engagement take place while visiting Argentina. The groom planned to propose in Ushuaia, nicknamed the “End of the World” as the southernmost tip of South America; however, he couldn’t wait another week. After a rooftop New Year’s Eve party in Buenos Aires, Kashy asked for Allison’s hand in marriage. As soon as they arrived back home in Houston, Texas, the betrothed began planning a destination wedding at an oceanfront venue in Los Angeles.

“We knew that planning a wedding that wasn’t local wasn’t going to be easy, so it was really important for us to have vendors that we could count on from over 1,500 miles away,” explains Allison. To ensure they had someone in LA they could trust, the pair hired David Pressman of David Pressman Events to organize the big day. “David knew what we wanted for our wedding and was instrumental in helping us make all of the final decisions that made our wedding the most amazing day of our lives,” she adds. “We couldn’t have done it without him.”

After three postponements due to Covid, just over 100 friends and family members at last gathered on a beautifully manicured lawn overlooking the Pacific Ocean to celebrate the marriage of Allison and Kashy. Bridesmaids in raspberry-toned gowns processed down the aisle, as did tuxedo-clad groomsmen wearing bow ties to match. The groom was handsome in a bold blue tuxedo jacket as he and his stunning bride, who donned a classic embroidered gown, exchanged vows in front of a wooden arch adorned with creamy drapery, vibrant florals, and textural pieces including pampas grass

“Our goal for our wedding was for it to be classy and intimate, but also fun with lots of dancing and amazing music.”

“We utilized our signage and florals for a romantic and whimsical look for our wedding ceremony, and florals, velvet linens, and lighting to create a classy and elegant evening,” describes the bride of the design scheme. A color palette of navy, raspberry, cream, silver, and rose gold was selected, and a worldly theme honored the pair’s love of traveling the globe. In fact, friends and family found their seats by way of luggage tags displaying each guest’s name and table assignment, which was named for a country Allison and Kashy had visited.

Once inside the wedding reception space, loved ones sat at round and rectangular tables surrounded by dark-wooden chairs. Centerpiece designs were kept simple, yet elegant, to honor the couple’s preferences and to allow loved ones to easily converse with one another across the table during the dinner service. Atop neutral linens and colorful runners, low arrangements of multicolored blooms and greenery were placed amongst “floating” candles and votives.

In addition to the lovely décor, attendees were treated to an array of tasty cuisine options. “From egg rolls and sliders to shots of lobster bisque, our hors d’oeuvres were a bit hit!” shares the bride. To continue the fun fare, a dessert bar provided an array of the newlyweds’ favorite sweet treats, and truffle fries were served as late-night snacks. As an ode to their travel-inspired wedding theme, a wedding cake showcasing a rose-gold world map delighted loved ones with different flavors for each of the four tiers: triple berry, pumpkin spice, strawberries and cream, and red velvet.

To honor the groom’s Nigerian heritage, a traditional “Nigerian Night” engagement celebration was held the night before the wedding – in lieu of a rehearsal dinner – and the couple also made an effort to incorporate both western and Nigerian music in the wedding entertainment provided by a DJ as well as saxophone and piano players. “Our goal for our wedding was for it to be classy and intimate, but also fun with lots of dancing and amazing music,” confirms Allison.

Allison and Kashy agree that though the wedding day took more time than they expected to finally arrive, their special day was absolutely perfect. The only thing they would have done differently? “Hire David earlier on,” affirms the bride. “We were under a lot of stress and experienced an instant relief as soon as we started working with him… We had a blast at the wedding and were smiling throughout the entirety of it!”
